Many years ago, long before Sauron, there was the first Dark Lord, Morgoth. Once the mightiest of the Valar, Morgoth rebelled against his kind and brought war against Arda. Our story takes place in Beleriand, where the elvish Prince Maedhros gathers an army to lead an attack on Morgoth’s black fortress of Angband. It is a suicide mission, but he is ready to face the Dark Lord at last.

Originally the elves did not wish to participate in the war, but Maedhros’s father Feanor crafted the most beautiful jewels in the world, the Silmarils, as a tribute to his greatest love, Galadriel. Morgoth lusted for them and sent his general, Gothmog, greatest of the balrogs, to slay Feanor and steal the artifacts. Enraged over his father’s death, Maedhros has resolved to unite elves, men, and dwarves to eradicate Morgoth’s evil once and for all.
With only a small ragtag army of elvish volunteers and a few mercenaries from the race of Men, his chances are bleak at best. Morgoth has many powerful minions – Sauron the shapeshifter and Gothmog the balrog lord, to name a few. How will he overcome them?
